• Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons that support strong student progress at KS3 and KS4 while using assessment effectively to monitor progress and close learning gaps.
• Contribute to curriculum planning, intervention provision and enrichment opportunities throughout the academic year.
• Provide high-quality feedback to pupils

Job Description Maths Teacher

Main function: To provide high-quality teaching and learning in Mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4, enabling all students to achieve their full academic potential. The successful candidate will inspire a love of mathematics, support excellent progress for all learners, and contribute positively to the life and ethos of Stanborough Secondary School. The role may offer a potential leadership opportunity for an exceptional candidate.

Reports to: the Headteacher.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching and Learning
   • Plan and deliver engaging, challenging and differentiated Mathematics lessons in line with the National Curriculum and examination specifications.
   • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes high standards of achievement and behaviour.
   • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners, including students with SEND, EAL learners and high-attaining students.
   • Promote excellent progress through effective assessment, feedback and intervention.
   • Use assessment data to identify learning gaps and implement strategies to address them.
   • Develop students’ confidence, resilience and problem-solving skills in Mathematics.
2. Curriculum and Department Development
   1. Contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of the mathematics curriculum.
   2. Support the creation and sharing of high-quality teaching resources.
   3. Participate in departmental meetings and collaborative planning activities.
   4. Contribute to curriculum innovation and enrichment opportunities that enhance the student experience.
   5. Support examination preparation and intervention programmes where appropriate.
3. Assessment and Monitoring
   • Mark and assess students’ work in accordance with school policies.
   • Maintain accurate records of student attainment, progress and attendance.
   • Prepare reports and attend parents’ evenings and review meetings.
   • Monitor and evaluate student progress, implementing intervention strategies as required.
4. Behaviour and Pastoral Support
   • Uphold the school’s behaviour expectations and contribute to a calm and purposeful environment.
   • Encourage students to develop positive attitudes towards learning.
   • Support students’ personal development, wellbeing and safeguarding.
   • Act as a tutor if required.
5. Wider School Contribution
   • Participate fully in staff meetings, training and professional development activities.
   • Contribute to extracurricular activities, clubs, competitions and educational visits where appropriate.
   • Support school events and the wider life of the school community.

Person Specification

Experience:
1.	Use of a range of monitoring and assessment strategies to evaluate pupil’s progress towards planned learning objectives
2.	Class management, planning teaching, monitoring and assessment
3.	Teaching the 11-16 age range
4.	Teaching in multicultural settings
Knowledge:
1.	Good subject knowledge
2.	Good knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies
3.	Awareness and experience of broad educational issues
4.	Cooperate with other colleagues in the preparation of courses, teaching materials, teaching progress and assessment
5.	Appreciation of current developments in Secondary Education
6.	Sound approach to planning, expectations and setting challenging teaching and learning objectives and targets for pupils
7.	An understanding, commitment and application of Equal Opportunities in a teaching environment
Ability & Skills:
1.	Good classroom management skills
2.	Good communication and presentation skills

Qualifications:
1.	Relevant Degree and Certificate in Teaching or equivalent
