Produce a colourful winter composition in the style of Alex Berdysheff using paint.net or draw it by hand using any medium.
Further develop your idea by ensuring that all five devices employed by Alex Berdysheff are included.
What is the criteria for an A-A*
To achieve a higher grade your work must be neat and finished using the following devices.
• Abstract your photograph to make each object less realistic using the tools in paint.net. Go to the top tool bar and select ‘effects’ then ‘artist’ and then select ‘mosaic’. Adjust the shapes to suit your own level of abstraction.
• Create seasonal shapes of colour using the top tool bar select ‘adjust’ then select ‘curves’ then ‘luminosity’. Select ‘RGB’ then adjust the colours by clicking three or more dots along the diagonal line, then move them to create the right blend of seasonal colours click ok when finished.
• Decorate with puppet string (thin and thick) lines of monochromatic colour. Draw free hand with the pencil or brush or for straighter lines select the ‘rectangle select’ tool (side tool bar) then the ‘paint bucket’ and ‘colour picker’ then choose a colour from the colour wheel on the top right hand corner using the ‘colour picker’. You can vary the tone of each colour by selecting ‘rectangle select’ tool (side tool bar) then on the top tool bar select ‘adjustments’ then ‘brightness contrast’. Do this manually (by hand), if you are not confident to draw lines in Paint.net.
• Isolate a window shape with the ‘rectangle select’ tool (side tool bar) then on the top tool bar select ‘adjustments’ then ‘brightness contrast’ to create the window of light.
Remember we have art club on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday lunchtime between 1.30 and 2.00.
