Message from the Head Teacher

Dear Parents and Carers

With just a few weeks to go until both the start of this year’s GCSE, IB and internal end of year examinations -and our first UK Olympic event – the temperature is certainly mounting in Watford despite the showers! We are also excited to celebrate our Queen’s Diamond Jubilee!

We welcomed back all of our students after the Easter holiday. The Year 10s enjoyed their work experience the first week back. The feedback from their employers was very positive which demonstrates that our students have been well prepared and have developed the skills and talents required in the workplace while at Stanborough.

The students showed their appreciation to all staff in a ceremony that brought tears to many teachers’ eyes. The staff were moved by the outpouring of appreciation. I would like to express my own appreciation for the hard work, dedication and commitment of all staff. They truly show the dedication and missionary spirit of service which flows from those happy to be doing God’s bidding.

This Summer Term is one filled with exciting events – such as the PTA Day of Fellowship, Sports Days, staff and student cricket match and the whole school trip at the end of the school year. We are looking forward to everyone attending the school trip so staff and students can get an opportunity to interact outside of regular classes. In addition we have the annual PTA Walkathon on 20 May 2012. During the summer break there will be three Summer Camps for international students coming to Stanborough to improve their English while experiencing London and the surrounding areas in their free time. If local students want to participate in the excursions please contact Ms Pizzuto for details.

During the Summer Term Stanborough continues to host international groups of various sizes and for varying durations who attend the International School or are integrated into classes to improve their English and to experience a taste of the British educational system. There are groups from Spain, Germany and Hungary and fortnightly groups from Brazil – of between 30 and 70 students at a time – being taught English separately in the International School.

We are pleased that our enrolment continues to show a positive trend. I remind you that Stanborough offers a discount to parents who refer new students to the school. Please contact our registrar for details.

We are looking forward to meeting our new Year 7s in September as they join our family and start their journey towards success in their GCSEs at Stanborough School.

I look forward to a busy term where we continue to inspire our students as we develop the skills and social and spiritual framework they will need for success in this life and for eternity. Please do not hesitate to contact us regarding any concerns, questions or issues you may have as we work together to educate your child.

Yours sincerely

Lorraine Dixon
